organization.Position Overview: Insight Hospital is seeking a
skilled and experienced Server Administrator to join our dynamic IT
team. The ideal candidate will possess expertise in server
virtualization, storage technologies, and infrastructure management
to support the delivery of high-quality healthcare services. The
Server Engineer will play a critical role in maintaining,
optimizing, and expanding our server infrastructure to meet the
evolving needs of our organization.Key Responsibilities:
- Design, deploy, and maintain VMware ESXi virtualization
environments to ensure optimal performance, reliability, and
scalability.
- Manage and administer virtual machines (VMs), including
provisioning, configuration, and troubleshooting.
- Implement and manage storage solutions, including Synology,
NetApp, and Dell EMC, to ensure data availability, integrity, and
security.
- Monitor server and storage systems performance, identify
potential issues, and implement proactive measures to optimize
performance and minimize downtime.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to assess requirements,
design solutions, and implement infrastructure projects aligned
with organizational objectives.
- Maintain documentation of server configurations, procedures,
and best practices to facilitate knowledge sharing and ensure
compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Provide technical support and troubleshooting assistance to
resolve server and storage-related issues promptly.
- Participate in capacity planning, performance tuning, and
disaster recovery planning activities to ensure the resilience and
availability of critical systems.
- Stay current with emerging technologies and industry trends in
server virtualization, storage, and infrastructure management to
drive continuous improvement and innovation.
- Perform daily backups of critical server data and applications
to ensure data integrity and availability.
- Monitor backup job processes, verify completion, and
troubleshoot any issues to maintain data protection and compliance
with backup policies.
- Familiar with all Microsoft support operating systems
(knowledge of deprecated server OS's will be needed as well 2003,
2008, and 2008R2) in addition to newer 2019 servers.
- Knowledge of network equipment including Cisco routers, and
switches.
- Leads design, implementation and support of cloud and
on-premises compute and storage infrastructure.
- Analyzes infrastructure to determine and resolve
inefficiencies.
- View logs for any issues and escalate as needed.FTE: Full time
Monday-Friday 9:00 am-5:00 p.m.Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Technology,
or related field preferred.
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in server engineering or a
similar role in an enterprise environment, preferably in the
healthcare industry.
- Proficiency in VMware ESXi/vSphere administration, including VM
deployment, resource management, and performance optimization.
- Hands-on experience with storage technologies, including
Synology, NetApp, and Dell EMC, and familiarity with SAN/NAS
architectures.
- Strong understanding of networking fundamentals and protocols,
including TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, and VLANs.
- Experience with server hardware, including Dell PowerEdge
servers, and familiarity with server deployment and configuration
best practices.
- Excellent troubleshooting skills and the ability to analyze
complex technical issues and implement effective solutions.
- Proven ability to work independently and collaboratively in a
fast-paced environment with a focus on delivering results.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to effectively
communicate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
- Relevant certification, such as VMware Certified Professional
(VCP) preferred.Skills Required:
- Technical Proficiency:
- In-depth knowledge of server hardware and software.
- Familiarity with various operating systems, especially Windows
Server and VMware, Citrix.
- Proficiency in network protocols and services (DNS, DHCP,
TCP/IP, etc.).
- Server Management:
- Experience in installing, configuring, and maintaining
servers.
- Proficiency in managing Active Directory and other directory
services.
- Knowledge of virtualization technologies (VMware, Hyper-V,
etc.).
- Security:
- Understanding of cybersecurity principles and practices.
- Experience with firewalls, VPNs, and other security tools.
- Ability to implement and manage server security policies and
procedures.
- Backup and Recovery:
- Expertise in data backup, recovery, and disaster recovery
planning.
- Familiarity with various backup solutions and
technologies.
- Performance Tuning:
- Ability to monitor server performance and identify
bottlenecks.
- Experience with performance tuning and optimization
techniques.
- Scripting and Automation:
- Proficiency in scripting languages such as PowerShell, Bash, or
Python a plus.
- Experience with automation tools and techniques.
- Troubleshooting:
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to troubleshoot
complex server issues.
- Experience with diagnostic tools and methodologies.
- Communication:
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with other IT team members and
departments.Certifications below will be a bonus:
- Microsoft Certified: Windows Server (MCSA, MCSE):
- MCSA: Windows Server 2016 or later.
- MCSE: Core Infrastructure.
- CompTIA Server+
- VMware Certified Professional (VCP)
- Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) (for networking
knowledge).
- AWS Certified SysOps Administrator - Associate (for cloud-based
